New Car.

So it seems that week after week we have another problem with our SUV...its a 2004 Buick Rainier. We bought it in 2006 for $19k! ouch. The payment is $356 a/m!! At the time Dave had a really really good job and it was fine. Well started to become not fine when he lost his job and the car started breaking everyday [it seemed]. In the past 3 months ALONE we have spent $2515!! $701 for Breaks and Rotors, $1400 for the front differential that almost caused us to get slammed into when the suv just stopped in the middle of a busy intersection and now we just paid $414 for a new starter!! We went to get in the car New Years day and it wouldn't start, so Dave tried to jump it and that didnt work, our friend who is a mechanic came over and diagnosed it. When he got the car to his shop he called Dave to tell him the front differential was leaking!!!! wtfff thats that part we just had fixed! Granted we got a 2 year warranty with the part when it got fixed, its still a pain in the A**!!! To make it worse it has to get fixed almost a hour away in CT cause the car broke down in CT so it got towed to my father inlaws friends shop and that's where the warranty is from so yah... we do have another car and usually that would be fine BUT starting Monday Dave starts his EMT class which is from 8am-12pm and Kait has school from 9am-12pm, he needs the car so i have no way to get her to school! Then we both need the car this thurs and fri and possibly Tuesday of next week - he works those three days and i need to get places while he's at work!! We finally got the school thing all set luckily...now i just need to figure out my transportation! Anyway after this part gets fixed again we will be thinking of getting rid of this POS and getting something better!! This could be a good thing tho cause i don't want to spend much more than $10k. Dave's parents will Co-Sign for us to get us a 0.0% apr to make it that much better! Dave doesn't have much established credit and i have really good credit but i don't work [well im not on the books so it looks like i have no job]. If we could get our payments down to the $200's id be happy!
Dave has always had a thing for jeeps... he had a Cherokee when we were dating but sold it when the fam started growing! He'd really love another one of some sort - mainly a 4 Door Wrangler or Grand Cherokee... we don't necessarily NEED another SUV type vehicle but i think that's the only type of car that's going to make it up our mountain of a driveway in the winter!

This is a picture of our POS...

  1. Bill had a Wrangler and had SOOOOO many problems with it. I made him get rid of it for a truck when I was pregnant because it was so UNdependable. Wouldn't want him stranded with a baby somewhere. A friend has a Cherokee. SOO many problems with hers too. Personally I would avoid it. I have a Toyota 4Runner and love it! I bought it brand new (so it was a little more $$$), but they hold their value really well - something to keep in mind, maybe you can find a used one in your price range.
