I love Direct TV BUT....

Back in January we signed up for Direct TV, because we [and i'm pretty much speaking for a good portion of our town!] couldn't stand Charter. We got a pretty good deal, lots of promos, discounts, etc. We were pretty happy! The man who installed our dish and set up our service was great, he showed us all the things to do that we didn't have before! Like DVR, Pausing and Fast Forwarding a show and being able to pick 9 Favorite channels etc. and First month of service was great!! We loved all our new channels that we didn't have with cable as well!! One of the deals was if you signed up and were approved for auto pay [comes right out of your bank account w/o having to send money in] well we were approved and were told we were all set, and for signing up with auto pay you were to get a $100.00 Visa GC! Sounded good to me [i had already planned what we were using it on...a certain Christmas present for our daughter]!! Well we realized after the first month that they never took $$ from our account, so we called. They straitened it out with no problem. We were then told we hadn't received the GC yet because a payment hadn't been made which I totally understood because at least 1 payment needed to be made for them to send out the GC and the first payment never came out for some reason -- they couldn't figure out why. So I kind of forgot about it for a month or so. Then when I got my paperless bill in my email it dawned on me that we still hadn't gotten the GC yet! So once again we call -- there was never a resolution to the problem, the person on the phone just said they would look into it and we were still entitled to the GC and someone would get back to us. So yesterday we gat mail from DTV saying:
Dear Mr....
Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding the status of your gift. As always we are greatful for the opportunity to assist you.

Our records indicate you meet the requirements associated with this offer. Our fulfillment period has ended therefore we are unable to mail the gift to you. We have applied a one-time credit to your account in lieu of the gift. The adjustment will appear on your next billing statement.

Okay great, thats nice of them and all, BUT thats not what we signed up for!!! We sign up for the GC within the time period. they dropped the ball, and now we're not getting what we signed up to get! I want to call tomorrow and see what they can/will do for us. Im not asking for the $100 credit AND GC, i just want the GC, as i had plans for what i was doing for it! When your as frugal as me you think ahead! Yes a $100 credit is great BUT we have everything budgeted to a T so there really is no desperate need for a $100 credit. We appreciate the offer but...No Thank You!
Ive heard of people asking for the retention department for different company's [we had to with T-Mobile once and got a great deal] has anyone else any any experience with this?

**Im not looking for bashing comments like the last blog post i wrote about a company. I'm just trying to get ideas as to what to do, besides keep the $100 credit that i really don't want. If i could transfer the credit to a friend or family member I would if they would give me the card in replace of! That would be nice huh!? =)

Comments

  1. Can you have them suspend one auto pay and take that 100 as your GC?
