Saving for Disney!

So if you follow my fan page you know that today Kait set up her Disney Account! The way we/she did it was...
She took all her change and tooth fairy money to TD Bank North and used there change machine [so much easier than rolling coins and better than using CoinStar seeing as they take a percentage of how much you have] she ended up with $14.xx. We then went to Bank of America [i hate them] where she had a account for bday money etc. She went in with Dad and we told her what she needed to do she said "id like to withdrawal $64.00" [we're trying to start her early on understanding money and banking but not going overboard by doing so just the basics] Dave then said we'd like to close out that account, the girl says and would you like to close your Mortgage too? WHAT! lol...hell yea, if that means no more payments hahah! So anyway after BOA we went to Stop and Shop to Citizens Bank were this week they had a promotion where if you open a new account with them you get a $20 S&S GC. So she took all her money and she opened up the account for Disney!! She told the teller she'd like to deposit $79.xx into a new account lol it was so cute watching her do HER business!
So that is the total as of right now $79 and change.
Half our trip is already paid for! We'll be using our time share which has property on Disney Property!! yay=)
Also we arent going for about another 2 years so she has plenty of time to save...we'll be going sometime in November of 2012 for both kids bdays...they will get a few things for Vacation to open on their bdays [Disney stuff] the trip is their present. And for xmas there will just be Santa presents. We explained all this to Kaitlyn and she had no problem with it at all and 100% understands! By then they will be turning 4 and 8 so i think those are good ages. I didnt want to go sooner while Brae is still young and not have him remember anything, or be able to do much in the parks etc.

So now all you couponing/saving to Disney people i need your park/s help!!!

We used the $20 on our grocery's total came to $50 - $20GC=$30 oop for us! Wayyy under our $100 bi weekly grocery budget!!!
The kids were so good in the store and we did so good saving this week we took the kids to the Air Museum that we've always wanted to go to! We all had a good time...something to excite us all!

YAY! Im excited!

  1. Hate to break it to you. But Brae will not remember the trip to Disney at age 4. Maybe if he was 6, but def not 4. Why? Cus my parents brought me there when I was 4. Lots of fun, awesome pics, no memory of it though other than vague images.

  2. Kaitlyn was just 4 years old and remembers every single trip we've taken, so why wont her brother? Just because you don't remember? ha!
Im sure we will go again when he around 8 or so, so its not like this is the one and only time he's going but taking him NOW would be a big waste cause he never sits still and could careless about the rides or anything else to do with amusement parks -- we gave it a trial run @ Six Flags. This trip is just in the beginning stages.
